Thirty eight delegates from thirteen ICMIF member organizations have recently participated in a study trip at CARD MBA, the Philippines, another ICMIF member, organized by the Asia and Oceania Association of ICMIF (the AOA). The visit was held on the 2 and 3 August 2016 with delegates from Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Thailand, the Philippines, Sri Lanka and the UK taking part.

The percentage of women on the boards of directors of mutual and cooperative insurers rose to 20.6% in 2015, compared to an insurance industry average of just 17.8%*, according to the latest research published by the International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation (ICMIF). This represents a significant growth for the mutual and cooperative sector over the previous 10 years, having increased from an average representation of women on boards of 14.3% in 2010 and almost doubled from 11.0% in 2005.

At the recent B20 Summit, 3-4 September 2016 in Hangzhou, China, the B20 Taskforces had the opportunity to present their recommendations, forged from meetings throughout 2016, to the G20 and other assembled parties. The International Cooperative and Mutual Insurance Federation’s Regional Association for The Americas (ICMIF/Americas) and hosts, ICMIF member Serviperú Central Cooperativa de Servicios, have this week launched the 24th ICMIF/Americas Annual Conference. Australia’s first fully driverless and electric shuttle bus, the RAC Intellibus™, was launched on 1 September this year. The Olympics may be over but sporting enthusiasm, grit and determination live on, this time in the UK and all in the name of raising awareness of mental health.    On September 21st the charitable trust of ICMIF member Benenden and SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) will fire the starting pistol signalling the beginning of a gruelling 600 mile cycle challenge. The event, ‘Cycle GB 2016’ expects to raise around GBP 50,000 and will see cyclists riding from SAMH’s local office in Glasgow to Benenden Hospital in Kent.
